RFSL Newcomers Malmö Activities
To support all of our members and LGBTQ+ newcomers in Malmö / Skåne in general, we regularly arrange wide regular activities, from fun-social activities to public advocacy. Below you will see our activities that we regularly offer.
Weekly Cafe and Legal Consultation
We regularly arrange Newcomers Cafe to provide safe space to all of our members. Furthermore, we also provide legal Consultation for all of our members who might need it. The meeting itself will be conduct confidentially, and thus if you are interested, you are welcome to email us at email@example.com or to our project manager at firstname.lastname@example.org
Even though we might not be able to provide financial, or professional health support, our officer will be available to help you to navigate your new life in Sweden as newcomers. Furthermore, through our network, we can also provide you information and refer you to specific organization that you can approach to help your social needs.

Job and Career Support
As part of our effort to support the integration process to Swedish society and Swedish labour market, we also offer our members support in regards to CV creation and Motivation letter creation. Furthermore, our integration officer also will provide some insight into Swedish culture and Swedish society and how to navigate the new reality in Sweden.

Språkcafe / Language Cafe
As part of collaboration with RFSL Senior Project Malmö, we arrange regular language cafe where the newcomers will have a chance to practice their conversational Swedish with our senior members.
When: Mondays, 15.00 – 18.00; RFSL Malmö office.

Public Advocacy on LGBTQ+ Rights
In addition to most of our activities that is targeted towards LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers, we also regularly conduct public advocacy on LGBTQ+ right, particularly focusing on LGBTQ+ migrants. In order to increase our public reach, we are aiming to have wider collaboration with external organizations.

Peer-to-peer education for LGBTQ+ newcomers
We regularly conduct peer-to-peer education for our newcomer members who are new in Sweden, with the LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees as our main target. We have conducted various educations not only to support our newcomers member to navigate the Swedish society and also to improve and develop our newcomer members competencies and skills.

Social activities and safe space for LGBTQ+ newcomers
Another important support that we offer to our LGBTQ+ newcomer members is to provide various social activities and safe space for LGBTQ+ newcomers in Skåne / Malmö. Follow us on social media to get update on our upcoming activities!
Several example of activities that we regularly conducts are:
Board Games Night
Are you interested to play various board games and in the same time to get to know other newcomers members and our local members? We provide various board games that you can play with your new friends in our offices.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 situation, we can not offer physical board games night, however, we provide virtual board games night instead. Follow our social media to get to know our upcoming events.
Would you like to watch and discuss various LGBTQ+ themed movies and make new friends in our office? We regularly arrange movie nights where all RFSL members can enjoy a chill evening with a light snack.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 situation, we can not offer physical movie night, however, we arrange virtual movie night instead.
This events is only for our Newcomers members, if you are interested to join the movie night you can get the upcoming update in our Newcomers FB group, you are welcome to send email to firstname.lastname@example.org and you will be provided the information on how to become Newcomer members.
Cultural and festive celebration
We regularly arrange various cultural and festive celebration such as Eid, Christmas, Halloween, Valentine, etc. Furthermore we also arrange various cultural activities such as cultural dinner, potluck, etc.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 situation this physical activities will be postponed until further notice.

RFSL Newcomers Youth Malmö
We are aware that we also have younger LGBTQ+ members who have different social needs and would like to have specific LGBTQ+ youth community. Due to this reason we also have special activities that is targeted for LGBTQ+ newcomers youth (below 25 years old). Follow us on our social media to get update on our upcoming activities!
Several activities that we are currently offers are:
Its Gayme Time
As younger members tend to be more internet savvy, we offer opportunity to play virtual or internet games with other members. Some of the games that we have played such as Among Us, Risk, Scrabble etc.
Sport, culture and arts
We also provide various activities in relation to sport, culture and arts for our youth members. Some of the activities that we offer such as or museum exhibition visit, sport groups, platform to channel hobbies for the youth such as painting, singing, etc.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 situation, physical youth sport, culture, and activities will be postponed until further notice.
Youth oriented educations
We are aware that LGBTQ+ youths have a different needs than the older members, and therefore we offer various youth oriented educations for our younger members, some of the topic of education that we offer such as: Values workshop, leadership training, accessing education in Sweden, etc.

Do not miss it: World Pride 2021 in Malmö and Copenhagen
As an organization who work with LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers, we are excited for the World Pride 2021 that will be conducted in Copenhagen and Malmö. During this world pride, there will be international summit with the focus on The Refugees, Borders & Immigration Summit. We hope that through this summit, we can use this platform to voice out our LGBTQ+ friends and families who are still experiencing discrimination and oppression in the other part of the world.
